MOBILE CINEMA CINEKAMPER!

From the experience of “Cortomobile, the smallest cinema in the world” (www.cortomobile.it), the four wheel cinema on board of a splendid vintage car the ALFA ROMEO 2000 Berlina of 1974, the project CINEKAMPER is born, the mobile movie theatre set in a bigger vintage car: a motor caravan, a 1981 Ford Transit Grand Soleil.
How is it? Technical details.
The movie screen is placed in the zone which before was used for the nocturnal rest; the projection room has been placed in the toilet. The inside is completely painted in black with natural colors. The seats are seven: four numbered seats, which belonged to a old movie theatre from the fifties, have been fixed in the centre of the inside space, two wooden seats on the side and the last one was created from what, before the camper became a cinema, was the travel wardrobe.
The projectionist can easily work in the projection room changing the 16mm and super8 film reels; the cash for paying the ticket is inside, placed before the entrance of the small cinema room. The exterior of the mobile movie theatre is completely orange while inside is completely black.
A story about the CINEKAMPER.
The CINEKAMPER was already operative since march 2009 with its opening for the “First Festival of the Automobile Cinema” in Certaldo (Florence) and it was experimented and created during the summer 2008 touring around buskers festivals (from “Pelago On The Road” to the squares of Piombino, Livorno and Florence)
Then? What happened?
One night, while it was “on a mission from Cinema”, it rolled over, receiving some abrasions to the body - with the opening of the right side as it was a pilchard can. For this reason Hulot Cultural Association wants to gather the necessary money to restore the mobile cinema and to complete the project.
Why we need your help…
We ask for a contribution of the price of a normal cinema entrance ticket: 8.00€. With 600 paying spectatorsis possible to recreate the dream of a “travelling cinema” which brings films around to towns, cities and festivals. In the age of multiplexes, of digital projection and pop corns – bringing a small film based cinema on the road seems always more an attempt of resistance to the material disgregation of our cinematographic culture and movie theatre meant like an aggregation place and cultural remark.

The CINEKAMPER is dedicated to the memory of the filmmaker Veronica Locatelli (www.veronicalocatelli.it), dead the 15th of July 2008 at Forte Belvedere, Florence. It is the mobile movie theatre “Veronica Locatelli”.

USE OF COLLECTED RESOURCES
The funds collected through Eppela will be needed more specifically for:
- To bring some important changes to the project and to repair the existing damages. Motor Caravan body repair (1500 €). To restore the breaking system. (600 €)
- Creation of a composable access stair at the level of the entrance of projection room.(around 400 €)
- Installation of a solar panel covering to make our cinema eco-substainable for the projection, batteries and internal lights.(around 600 €)
- Purchase of new projectors: 16mm film (around 300 €), super 8 (around 150 €).
- Remaking of bordeaux curtains with fireproof material (around 350 €)
- Painting of the insides with natural black tempera.(100 €)
- Endowment of a new sound system with hi-fi loudspeakers (around 800 €)
We have three months to reach the objective of gathering the amount of 4800 €.
